Tesla CEO Elon Musk's net worth increased by $12.5 billion overnight to close at $179 billion as of Wednesday, surpassing Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and returning to third place in the world's richest list.

This is the fourth time this month that Musk and Zuckerberg have swapped places on the rich list.

Meta's shares fell 0.52% to close at $493.50 on Wednesday, but fell 19% after hours, wiping out more than $200 billion in market value.

As of Wednesday's close, Zuckerberg's net worth was $175 billion.
